Prefabricated Generator Enclosure Building
Lonestar Prestress Mfg., Inc. Develops New Sound-Attenuated Precast Concrete Generator Building
Midland, VA. – Lonestar Prestress Mfg., Inc. (LPMI), a manufacturer of prestressed concrete poles and Easi-Set® precast concrete buildings, recently designed a sound-attenuated generator building for two Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA) storm water pumping station rehabilitation projects. Boyer Inc., a large Houston-based general contractor was awarded the $3 million contract from HCTRA back in January of 2009 which is part of an ongoing upgrade of storm water pumping stations located along the Hardy Toll Road.
Both HCTRA and Boyer Inc. have a long history with LPMI and have purchased more than 40 Easi-Set and Easi-Span Buildings for projects in and around Harris County over the last 10 years. LPMI engineered a hardened sound attenuated building designed specifically to accommodate engine driven generators in order to provide a superior alternative to other available generator enclosures. Like all of LPMI's buildings, the structures are hardened because their standard design incorporates wind loading of 150 mph and their 4" solid concrete walls provide superior protection from wind-born debris. Not only will they provide a safe environment for the equipment, they will also provide a sheltered environment for personnel should they have to work on the generators during severe weather.
Easi-Set precast concrete buildings consist of precast concrete panels structurally bolted to form a modular building that can be transported fully assembled from the precast plant to the job site ranging in size from 6' x 6'x 8' up to 14' x 24' x 12'. Larger Easi-Span Buildings are available starting at a size of 20' x 20' x 8' and go up to 40' x 200'+, with available widths of 20', 24', 30' and 40' clear span interiors.
Boyer Inc. purchased two buildings for this project which includes the rehabilitation of two separate pumping stations along the Hardy Toll Road, one near FM 1960 and the other near Greens Road, both located in North Houston. The precast buildings house 750 and 205 KW generators respectively, which were installed on poured-in-place concrete foundations, complete with electrical and gas line stub ups. LPMI site erected the buildings in late April first erecting the four walls then setting the single slab post tensioned roof, which can be removed in order to repair or replace the generator.
LPMI is a privately-owned company based in Houston, manufactures prestressed concrete poles, Easi-Set and Easi-Span precast concrete buildings and other assorted engineered precast products. LPMI has one manufacturing facility in www.lonestarprestress.com.
